'ONE WORLD' AND '7th SAUFEST' HELD IN LOVELY PROFESSIONAL UNIVERSITY


   
Jalhandhar: 'One World' and '7th SAUFEST' was held from 11th to 14th March, 2014 at lovely Professional University(LPU), Phagwara. Over twenty five countries represented by different schools of LPU cooperated by students from respective countries studying in the university showcased their rich culture and tradition. On the first day, students participated in procession during which they filled the premises of the university with glimpse of their rich cultural heritage and tradition.

Students exhibited diverse cultural dances of their country. Mongolian 'Urtyn Duu', Bhutanese 'Cham', Tibetan 'TASHI SHOLPA' and 'YAK DANCE', Chinese 'Mo Li Hua', Nepalese 'Resham Ferari' and many other folk dances thrilled the audiences.

"It was an amazing and wonderful opportunity for me and my friends. We enjoyed this wonderful opportunity to showcase our rich culture and owned a traditional food stall named 'Tibet Kitchen'. I would thank everyone who have organised the event and hope in future we get the same opportunity" says Dawa Dorjee, B.Tech CSE student.

During the fest, students displayed their national history, royal heritage, costumes, models of monuments, sports, mythical characters, warrior, etc along exhibition of various festivals of respective countries like Navrooz, Calabar, Tshechu, Losar(Tibetan New year), Falgun, Boisakh, Eid, Saba Saba, Nane nane, Umuganuyra, Yalda, Thimpsu,  etc.

'International food carnival' was observed in three days of the annual university fest. Participating countries also hold food stalls and served over one hundred and fifty delicacies to every visitors. Bhagirath, a B.Ed student told that potato momo served by 'Tibet Kitchen' was so tasty and is reasonable for price charged. Chef team of Tibet kitchen says 'We served laephing, potato momo, swimming momo, noodles and tingmo for the visitors'
